The SIGGRAPH 2007 Report Slide Show

These cool devices are three-dimensional rapid prototyping machines, or more simply, 3D "printers". These devices convert a 3D model in the computer into a plastic sculpture by laying down plastic layer by layer. These particular devices were part of the "Guerilla Studio", which allowed any participant to bring in a 3D model and "print" it on site for free. Sadly, I didn't have any models to work with, and our attempts to get a model of our project's mascot ran out of time. Of course, if you didn't have a model handy, you could always have your head scanned in the 3D scanner....
