[[Fooker continues his narration of his father's life, describing it to Sharon as the two of them sit on the floor of GPF's server room.]]
Fooker: Then not long after I started at GPF and Justin started college, Dad vanished. Just up and disappeared. I'm sure he was on assignment, but he might as well beamed off-planet.
Fooker: [very sadly] Mom's health had declined steadily after Dad formed the U.G.A., but she spiraled steeply after he left. I did what I could to help her, but there wasn't much anyone could do. After she... I tried to contact him, but never found him.
Fooker: He popped up one day out of the blue to sign some papers and pay for Justin's tuition, but I wasn't there. Justin and I weren't talking then, but later he told me Dad looked odd. Even more grim than usual, but not himself.
[[Sharon has put her arms around Fooker, and put her head on his shoulder.]]
Fooker: [angrily] By now, Dad's more than old enough to have retired. Knowing him, however, I doubt a condo in Florida will compete with ordering snipers around in some Middle Eastern desert...
