[[Chapter Four begins. We see Ki, pulling a wheeled carry-on, waiting in line at the boarding gate for "Gate 18" in an airport. She looks tired, drained, and worried.]]
PA System: Now boarding rows 24-12 at gate 18...

[[Ki reaches the front of the line and hands her boarding pass to an all-too-cheerful uniformed ticket agent.]]
Agent: [smiling hugely] Have a nice flight!

[[Ki looks back over her shoulder as she walks down the jetway.]]
Ki: [thinking] I'll try to, but I'd feel much better if I knew where Nick was right now...
