[[Beginning of Chapter Five. We've rejoined Trish, Patty, and Dexter as they're listening to Colonel Barker's explanation of his reference to "Scylla and Charybdis".]]
Patty: Scylla and Charybdis? From Homer's "Odyssey". Ancient Greek myth. Of course we've heard of it.
Dexter: I thought that was an episode of "Ulysses 31"...
Trish: B-But what d-does th-that have to do w-with us?
Dexter: [enthusiastically] The war with the other alien race! If the "molds" are Scylla and the others are Charybdis, then...
Dexter: Uh, oh...
Colonel: [Smiling] Ah, Telemachus, my son, I see the gods have granted you enlightenment.
Colonel: WE are Odysseus, my friends, and an impossible task lies before us. We must navigate the human race between two opposing factions, or slavery and death will be our fate.
