[[Trudy and Esther Matusevitch are next to each other, lit from the front like they're huddling around a fire.]]
Trudy: Why is he doing this? Is one of those things controlling him too?
Esther: No. Somehow, the mongrel is immune. Don't ask me how.

[[Esther looks toward the light source as though searching for insight.]]
Esther: I don't know what's in this for him. He's too smart to be duped by them. I'd almost bet he's got some kind of angle, some way to double-cross them, but it beats me on exactly how...

[[Trudy turns toward Esther, Esther has her eyes closed.]]
Trudy: And why didn't he "induct" you?
Esther: I'm not quite sure. I think the old dog took a shining to me...

[[Trudy grimaces, while Esther turns toward her with a small smirk on her face.]]
Esther: What's the matter? Don't think your old mom can still turn a man's head...?
Trudy: It's _whose_ head that feels almost incestuous...
