Throughout the mountains of the Appalachians (United States), many roads have been cut directly into the mountains, often leaving bare, and sometimes loose, rock. Occasionally, this rock, under the pressure of erosion, heavy rains, floods, and whatever, become loose, and may fall on unsuspecting travelers. Signs are posted in places with the highest potential of rock slides, often with the wording "Watch for Falling Rock."

In the United States, also known as the Land of Perpetual Sugar-Laced, Marshmallow-Filled Children's Breakfast Cereals with Mascots that Teach Our Kids to be Greedy and Unsharing, the General Mills food company sells a "cereal" called Trix. The Trix Rabbit fits into the second great category of cereal mascots. (These categories being (1) those that promote kids hogging all cereal for themselves and not sharing, (2) those that are not allowed to share by the greedy kids taught by the first group, and (3) the extremely rare few that actually promote sharing their cereal (I believe only Tucan Sam and Tony the Tiger fit in this group.) When the poor, discriminated Rabbit tries to share some Trix, the children respond with resounding chorus of "Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids!" Kicks, Trix, kids, Twids... Well, I thought it was funny....

I can see the possibilities that someone, somewhere, may take a look at The Legend of Princess Falling Rock and accuse me of some sort of racist stereotyping and discrimination against Native Americans. Let me first say that this is anything but true. I have the greatest of respect for all peoples, regardless of race or color, and, having a little bit of Indian blood within my genes myself, I most certainly mean no malice or malintent toward anyone. Secondly, I present these stories more or less as I encountered them (with my own little embellishments, or course) and want to make every effort to preserve them that way. If anyone is offended by this tale, I'm sorry. It was not meant to offend. However, I will not change it, and offer it "as is." While being funny, it is a wonderful love story, and I hope you view it as such and not through hate-colored glasses.
